A crown is used to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth or an implant. While strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown also improves its appearance, shape or alignment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.
A dentist may recommend a crown to replace a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining, Protect a weak tooth from fracturing, Restore a fractured tooth, Attach a bridge, Cover a dental implant, Cover a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth, Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
Bridge may be recommended if you’re missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
Dental bridges bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge is a false tooth that is held in place by the teeth on either side of the gap. Although dental bridges can be made from a variety of materials such as gold, typically they’re made from porcelain to aesthetically blend in with your natural teeth. Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space
Bridges can restore your smile, restore the ability to properly chew and speak and prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position thus maintain the shape of your face.

“My 12 yr. old granddaughter had to have dental surgery done a year ago and the dentist she was going to had retired after sending her for the surgery. We went to Dr Koart and are so happy to have someone like him that comes to our community. He took his time with her and explained everything he was doing. Very careful that she didn’t see anything going into her mouth that would scare her as she was already very nervous to the point of tears. After 2 fillings and 2 baby teeth pulled she was very pleased. When I asked her on a scale of 1-10 how bad was it, she rated it a 2.
